About Me:
I started exercising a few years ago when I got tired off visiting the tailor to alter my pants to keep up with my ever increasing appetite for good food and cold beers.
Started off with some swimming, cycling and light running and took part in some triathlon, run and swims to collect event souvenoir T-shirts as badges of honour (and I am still doing that as my source of motivation). After a while, I decided that running is the cheapest way to keep my weight in check while still allowing me to pig out on occasions and also the most fun! In the meanhwhile the tyres on my bicycle have gone flat and the swimming trunks have stayed dry.
This is now my "2nd life" besides my daily work at the office. The weekly schedule is a cycle of short and long runs with recovery and/or injuries spliced in between.
This Pace Training programme has taught me that there is a great deal of responsibilities as a pacer as many beginners look to the pacers for guidance. As pacers, we need to maintain a fairly constant pace so that the runners following the pace groups are not unnecessarily taxed by running too fast and yet are able to complete the race in their expected timings.
I had benefitted previously from Team Fatbird's Pacers at last year's marathon and I was grateful for them leading me the way to a inspired run. This is my way of returning the favour and I hope that the 10 weeks of training (and hardship under the blazing East Coast sun and torrential rain) will culminate in a good run on 6th December 2009. May the Sun have mercy.
The runners in my pace group of 5:30 hrs, consisting of Benny, Patrick, David and I, are taking this very seriously and are raring to go. I can't wait for race day to come so that I can finally wear the kindly sponsored New Balance gears and shoes. I hope our pace groups will give runners the support and inspiration to have good run with peace of mind knowing that if they "Follow our Pace". they will "Win the Race".
